Bulb winner just won 4 LEDs–up to $400 in savings!

Congratulations to Calvin from Rockford for winning our drawing this week!  Calvin will receive 4 LED light bulbs, up to $400 in energy savings, after his name was randomly selected from the people who took our survey on new light bulb efficiency standards.

“I appreciate CUB being a watchdog for the public and the information you provide,” Calvin says.

Thanks to everyone who participated!  We had almost 800 responses to the survey, which had some interesting results:

  • 78.1% of respondents support new federal efficiency standards designed to improve light bulbs.
  • 67.9 % oppose recent efforts by some members of Congress to block the new efficiency standards.
  • When asked lightbulb preference, 50.5% chose LEDs, 20.7% chose CFLs, 16.2% chose incandescents that meet the new standards. Another 12.6% still like traditional incandescents that do not meet the new standards.

If you haven’t already, be sure to join CUB Action Network so you can receive the latest updates on utility news and more chances to win awesome prizes. (Hint: If you like free stuff, I would definitely open our e-newsletter next week–but you didn’t hear it from me!)
